[Restaurant] Independence Day

We’re different than most restaurants in these parts, wouldn’t you say? In an area where a slew of corporate restaurants chains seem to dominate where many people dine out and how they think about food, we like to think that Spark Restaurant Lounge is one of the restaurants in the area that offers you a different experience: food that is more original, more local, more seasonal, and just more better.

Still, even with that independent blood of ours pumping, we acknowledge our dependence on our quite independent customers: you. If you’re reading this, you’ve probably already noticed that we’ve often relied on the buzz of social media not just for us to communicate with you, but also for you to communicate with us. With that in mind, let’s make one thing clear: we depend much more on you than you depend on us. So, the more we hear from your independent voice, the better this independent restaurant of yours will do at keeping you one happy foodie.

Now, with that preface attached, let’s celebrate both yours and our [restaurant] independence this 4th of July.

For the next 10 days we’ll be tracking how many new people become fans of Spark Restaurant Lounge on Facebook, just one of the sites we use to keep us all in the loop with each other.

Here’s your bonus: by whatever percentage our fans increase, we’ll give you that same percentage off dinner on July 20, up to a hefty 75 percent off.

That means the more friends, family, lovers, and online stalkers you invite to join the Spark fan hood, the more we’ll be discounting your (and our new fans’) entire dinner tab. Can’t you already taste our savory filet mignon for a mere $6.25 or our newly-added basil-crusted halibut for a simple $5.50?

So let’s do this. Here are two simple ways we can embrace more people into our Spark family with just a few clicks of the mouse.

1. Copy the following (including the URL) and paste it as your status update:

I’m a fan of Spark Restaurant Lounge. Become a fan and we'll get up to 75% off dinner. http://bit.ly/F4LoJ

2. Suggest that friends become fans of Spark Restaurant Lounge:

Go to our fan page

Click on "Suggest to Friends"

Invite all your friends.

SOME NITTY GRITTY
Number of fans at beginning of [Restaurant] Independence Day: 1,314.
Final count will take place Monday, July 13, 2009 at 10:00 PM.
All fans will be sent a redemption certificate on Tuesday, July 14, 2009 that will contain the final discount amount.
Redemption certificate will be sent via Facebook Page Updates. Please make sure that you have updates enabled.
Spark Restaurant Lounge is not responsible for unreceived redemption certificates.
Redemption certificate may be presented any time Monday July 20 during dinner service (from 5:00 PM to 10:00 PM).
Discount on redemption certificate will apply to entire tab.
While discount is offered on entire tab, gratuity based on pre-discount tab will be appreciated.

Hoot on!

Spark Restaurant Lounge has partnered up with The Orem Owlz to give you more summer [night]life. Now when you go to any Owlz home game you can purchase the Spark Special--two game tickets + a $15 gift card to eat at Spark for just $20.

Spark is conveniently open until at least midnight (1 AM on the weekends), making it a great place to eat and socialize after you've caught the game. And if you decide to save the gift card for later, we'd be just as happy to see plop your $15 gift card down the next day for lunch. Here's another idea: take the whole family to score multiple gift cards, and then come experience dinner some other night sans the kiddies.

So what do you think of the special? Have you been to many Owlz games?

Let us be your jukebox

In-N-Out has their "secret" menu. Well Spark Restaurant Lounge now offers insiders (i.e., you) the chance to request late-night tunes. If it's after 10 PM, you're smashing on some late-night nosh, and itching for a particular song, just let your server know. We'll snap it into our late-night playlist (as long as we've got it and it's not The Macarena) and you can groove on.

Gettin' our blog on

Spark Restaurant Lounge has got its blog on.

So I proudly told a friend the other day that we'd have a blog up by the end of the week? His reply: "What could Spark ever blog about that people would want to read?"

Let's just say that put the pressure on.

Spark was formed with the concept of giving our guests unique dining and social experiences. Since we're not a franchise, we don't do things based on how "corporate" tells us to. Instead, we dig to find ways to keep you raving about your experiences here-whether they be at lunch, dinner or late-night.

With that in mind, let's just say this little blog is meant to give some behind-the-scenes peeks at how we arrive at creating those experiences for you. Sure, we'll also be busting out posts here and there about the latest Spark happenings, stuff we think is cool, and probably even stuff we think is not. But when it's said and done, we want you to get the skinny of what we do and why we do it so that you know us as much as we hope to know you.

So for our next post, what can we answer? Whether you have question for Executive Chef Romero or are curious about where we got our chandelier, we want to know! Let us know in the comments and our next post may just be a response to your question.
